The widespread prevalence of non-melanocytic skin tumors, their lesser (but not absent) aggressiveness, and their greater incidence in elderly patients, often polypathological, have created the erroneous belief both among “experts” and among “the non-experts” that this is a minor pathological problem, often with a value only quoad valetudinem and not quoad vitam.

Correct knowledge of this pathology, however, teaches us that non-melanocytic skin tumors, especially when neglected and not adequately treated, cause significant functional morbidity, limitation of quality of life, and mortality in both elderly and healthy young patients. .
